Europska komisija usvojila je strate\u0161ke dokumente poput Europskog zelenog plana, Akcijskog plana za kru\u017eno gospodarstvo, Europske strategije za biogospodarstvo i Akcijskog plana \u201ePrema nultom one\u010di\u0161\u0107enju\u201c, s ciljem postizanja klimatske neutralnosti do 2050. godine. Ove dokumenti usmjereni su na poticanje odr\u017eivog kori\u0161tenja resursa, smanjenje emisija i razvoj inovativnih modela kru\u017enog gospodarstva, koji izme\u0111u ostalog promi\u010de kori\u0161tenje razli\u010ditih proizvodnih ostataka kao vrijednih resursa, \u010dime se smanjuje negativan utjecaj na okoli\u0161 i pove\u0107ava odr\u017eivost. Razvoj novih biosorbensa na bazi nusproizvoda prehrambene indutrije te njihova mogu\u0107a komercijalizacija i primjena na realnim sustavima za pro\u010di\u0161\u0107avanje otpadnih voda u skladu je s principima kru\u017enog (bio)gospodarstva. Ovim projektom istra\u017eit \u0107e se mogu\u0107nost upotrebe nusproizvoda prehrambene industrije (poput pivskog tropa, ljuski heljde i otpadne biomase gljiva) s potencijalom primjene kao jeftinih, okoli\u0161no prihvatljivih nekonvencionalnih adsorbensa (biosorbensa) za uklanjanje one\u010di\u0161\u0107ivala (sintetskih bojila, nutrijenata i farmaceutika) iz vodenih sustava. Primijenit \u0107e se razli\u010dite metode modifikacije nusproizvoda, s ciljem pobolj\u0161anja njihovih biosorpcijskih karakteristika. Tako\u0111er \u0107e biti ispitana mogu\u0107nost desorpcije adsorbata, odnosno regeneracije biosorbensa te analize fitotoksi\u010dnosti obra\u0111enih uzoraka vode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Food industry production residues, including both byproducts and waste, represent a substantial potential for valorisation. The European Commission has adopted strategic frameworks such as the European Green Deal, the Circular Economy Action Plan, the European Bioeconomy Strategy, and the \u201cZero Pollution\u201d Action Plan, with the overarching objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. These documents are aimed at promoting the sustainable use of resources, reducing emissions, and developing innovative circular economy models, which, among other objectives, encourage the use of various production residues as valuable resources, thereby reducing negative environmental impacts and enhancing sustainability. The development of new biosorbents based on by-products from the food industry, as well as their potential commercialisation and application in real wastewater treatment systems, is fully aligned with the principles of the circular (bio)economy. This project will investigate the feasibility of using food industry by-products (such as brewers\u2019 spent grain, buckwheat hulls, and waste fungal biomass) as low-cost, environmentally friendly, unconventional adsorbents (biosorbents) for the removal of contaminants (synthetic dyes, nutrients, and pharmaceuticals) from aquatic systems. Various modification methods will be applied to these by-products in order to enhance their biosorption properties.
