Invited lecture at HGK

The 11th conference Functional food in Croatia was organised in cooperation with the Croatian Society of Food technologists, Biotechnologists and Nutritionists (CROFoST), Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), the Ministry of Agriculture and Croatian Food Agency.

This conference is traditional meeting and its gathering numerous participants due interesting and current topics and its bring together eminent experts from Academia , government, public and private institutions and various public bodies involved in food safety and industry and all who are interested in food in any aspect. On this conference Principal Investigator Stela Jokić, PhD, give lecture named “Agro-waste as a source of bioactive compounds” where she also presented research plan on project Application of innovative techniques of the extraction of bioactive components from by-products of plant origin”.

Osijek Television show „In Step with Nature“

On July 1st, 2018, in the emission “In Step with Nature” show on Osječka TV, quest was Stela Jokić, PhD, Principal Investigator of project ByProExtract.

New equipment purchased on project

Mini Spray Dryer B-290 is laboratory spray dryer for obtaining dried extract (powder) with targeted bioactive components (mixtures or isolated fractions).

Osječka TV

In the emission „Produženi vikend“ on Osječka TV on June 18th, 2018, the new eco-innovative food product FLIPSOS, which have been awarded with first place in the student competition Ecotrophelia was presented by Stela Jokić, Phd and Antun Jozinović, PhD.
The aim of this competition is to encourage the creation and eco-innovation in food by teams of students. The winner of the Croatia goes forward to represent their product at the European final competition in Paris, France.

YOUNG SCIENTIST DAY 2018

Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Medicine and Department of Chemistry and the Department of Biology Osijek know that without the mutual cooperation and linking of related fields of science there are no top results and major projects. And this is the reason that they decided to join forces and organize togather scientific conference for young scientists and researchers from Osijek University. The organizer of the whole event is the project investigator Stela Jokić, PhD.
The “Young scientist day” has attracted more than a hundred authors – PhD students and postgraduates, who were on June 14, in Auli Rectorate presented the results of their research and projects. The gathering was a chance to exchange and create new ideas and friendships, acquire knowledge, skills and competences for working on a science-research and teaching field, and linking them together as a basis for future joint collaboration.
One of the oral lectures titled “Green Extraction Techniques of Bioactive Components from Cocoa Shell” was presented by Nika Pavlović, team member on the project “Application of innovative techniques for the extraction of bioactive components from by-products of plant origin” (UIP-2017-05-9909).

Popular Lecture at Faculty of Technology Novi Sad

Principal Investigator Stela Jokić, PhD, give a popular lecture „Extraction of bioactive components from different plant materials“ at Faculty of Technology Novi sad, as an invited speaker. Professor Jokić also presented the new approved project „Application of innovative techniques of the extraction of bioactive components from by-products of plant origin“ supported by Croatian Science Foundation. These meeting is a prove that cooperation with partners from Faculty of Technologi Novi sad on our project is very successful.

New Subcritical Water Extraction Laboratory Plant Design

The 35th Jubilee Annual Assembly of the Croatian Academy of Engineering was held on Monday, 21st of May, 2018 and on that occasion was promotion of “Annual 2017 – 2018 of the Croatian Academy of Engineering”. In this Annual is published paper titled „Subcritical water extraction laboratory plant design and application“ (pp. 247-258) where the authors, Stela Jokić, PhD, and Krunoslav Aladić, PhD, presented new extraction laboratory plant design constructed under the project „Application of innovative techniques of the extraction of bioactive components from by-products of plant origin“ supported by Croatian Science Foundation (UIP-2017-05-9909).

Principal Investigator Stela Jokić held a popular lecture in Kopački rit

Within the workshop entitled „Food industry by-products: from problem to valuable raw material“, which was organized on the occasion of completion of the project „Application of food industry by-products in development of functional and environmentally friendly extruded food products and additives„(HRZZ-IP-2013-11-1321, 2014. – 2018.), the project investigator Stela Jokić, PhD presented a lecture titled „Application of innovative extraction techniques in processing of food industry by-products“. Professor Jokić also presented the results of the FUNEXFOOD project. Furthermore, she talked about plans and goals regarding the new approved project ByProExtract. The workshop was placed at the reception center in Kopački Rit, Baranja (May 04, 2018).
