Sub-department of Process Design and Construction Materials

During the basic Department courses, as part of the group of courses titled Designing, the students will acquire basic knowledge, but also the skills from the area of designing and process optimization, as well as process equipment designing, or project equipment dimensioning. As a part of that process they also become familiar with construction materials used in process industry, or food industry. The students are introduced to basic characteristics of materials used in process and food industry with a special overview of necessary and possible measures for protection of these materials. The students acquire knowledge and competences which will provide them with an equal status in relation to other professions in the area of designing new process facilities, as well as reconstructing existing facilities. The courses also provide the students with the opportunity for personal creativity and a personal approach to solutions for technical issues related to the equipment, but also to the technological process as a whole. This is primarily relevant for the economic and technical aspects of the project, where the importance of sustainable development and manufacturing in all the stages of the process is particularly emphasized. The students are also introduced to basic programming packages used for designing processes, or process equipment.

As part of the group titled Technology, the students are introduced to basic knowledge from the area of relevant technologies, with emphasis on surface active chemistry and the application of surface active agents within the stated technologies. They are introduced to basics of product and process development and the unit operations applied in the manufacturing of specific products, or groups of products. This way the students who are starting their work in the stated industries require much less time to assume complete responsibility for specific stages of development, control, and process management.
